I found myself on my knees at 3 am Sunday morning. I was in severe pain that had brought me to this place. In my desperation, I had forgotten the one thing that I could turn to in my moment of despair...PRAYER!
You see, I lost my baby brother recently to cancer. My immediate family held a celebration of his life the day before. I had spent the last week creating a slideshow of his short life that brought out more pain than I knew existed inside of me. This pain was alive deep within my soul.
That evening when I returned home I found myself overwhelmed by grief. I sobbed for hours thinking of my childhood buddy & the fact that his mental illness had kept us from having a relationship during our adult lives.
I cried myself to sleep until the dreaded awakening at 3 am. I couldn't open my mouth or move my head so I got on my knees and laid my head on the bed to relieve the pain. It was then that it came to me...I need God's help! So, I prayed. I knew this may not bring immediate pain relief; however, it did get me through the night. It also gave me awareness on what was happening to my body and what I needed to do the next day to get out of this whirlwind of pain.
I can't tell you how this one thing that I did made the biggest difference for me in my time of despair. My message to you today is when you find yourself in despair with no other options, PRAY! Get on your knees & talk with your Creator. He loves us so much & He is here for us. PRAY when you don't need to! Thank Him for your blessings because there is always something to be thankful for in every moment in every day.
